School Wide AR Rewards and Recognition

Reading teachers will communicate reading goals to students and parents.
Top 4th and 5th grade homerooms will be recognized each Monday morning. 
Students reaching 100% of their AR goals will be recognized each Monday morning. 
110% Reading Award Certificates will be presented each quarter for students who go above and beyond their goals.
Each quarter, students who earn 100% of their goals will be rewards:
1st quarter - Frosty
2nd quarter - slush
3rd quarter - sundae
4th quarter - bubble party
each quarter - drawings for various prizes

Special recognition:
Hall of Fame (display in hallway)
50 point club - bookmark
75 point club - party in the library
100 point club - lunch with principal
Again, these are school wide rewards. Each reading teacher may choose to do other rewards as well.

Book Orders

Our first book order is coming home today. These are due on Wednesday, August 31.  You should send EXACT CASH or a CHECK made payable to SCHOLASTIC.

You also have the option of shopping online at home.  Just CLICK HERE!  It's easy, and you don't have to worry about sending anything to school. When I complete the order, your items will ship directly to me. I will then give them to your child.

When you order, you help our class earn bonus points which turns into FREE STUFF for our class!  So, YES! Your order matters!

Parts of Speech Review

To write a sentence, we must have a subject and a predicate.  Our subject is the who or what (noun), and the predicate is the action (verb).

Reading: Novel Study


We will be reading the book The Hundred Dresses. I am giving students the opportunity to purchase their own copy of the book.  Each copy costs $6.  Please send CASH only in the EXACT amount to school promptly so that I may get the books ordered quickly.

Any student that does not order a personal copy will be provided a school copy.
